Anil Anawalkar Music Classes

We are set up in Shankar Nagar, specifically at Greenland Society 4. It’s a residential area, so it stays fairly quiet, which is good for what we do. The rooms are usually filled with the sound of someone trying to get a scale right or practicing a new piece. It’s not a big conservatory or a fancy academy. It’s just a house where we teach music. There are instruments scattered around—some guitars in the corner, a keyboard, and some music stands that have seen better days. We spend our afternoons and evenings with students of all ages. Some are just starting out and struggle with the basics, while others have been coming for years. We don't use any high-tech teaching methods; it's mostly just sitting down and playing until it sounds right. The walls have some old posters on them, and there’s usually a pot of tea on the stove in the kitchen. We don't do much advertising. People in the society know us, and news travels that way. It’s a relaxed atmosphere. We aren't looking to produce world-famous stars, we just want people to enjoy playing music. Sometimes the neighbor's dog barks during a quiet part of a song, but we just laugh it off and keep going. It’s a nice way to spend the day, honestly. We focus on the notes and the practice, nothing more complicated than that. It keeps us quite busy.
