Amul Ice Cream

You can find us at Wanawadi on JV Road 4. It is a pretty straightforward setup here with a few big freezers and a place for people to stand. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture or anything like that. The main thing is keeping the machines running so the ice cream stays cold, especially when the sun is hitting the front of the shop. During the summer, it gets really packed and we are constantly opening and closing those heavy lids. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to keep things from melting. It’s a bit of a neighborhood spot where kids come by after school. We usually recognize most of the people who walk through the door since they live right nearby. Our staff is just a couple of guys who live close by too. We don't spend much time on talk; it’s mostly just scooping and making sure the napkins are stocked up. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. Life on JV Road moves at its own pace. We open up in the morning, check the temperature gauges, and wait for the first customer. It is a simple way to spend the day, surrounded by cold stuff and the sound of the ceiling fan clicking overhead. We just try to keep the place tidy as we go.
