Alokh Provision General Store

Running Alokh Provision General Store keeps us on our toes. We are right on Aundh Elphinstone Road 3, so there is always traffic and people stopping by. It’s a small shop, but we try to keep the shelves full of the things folks need every day. From morning till late evening, one of us is always behind the counter. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s my son. We know most of the people who live nearby by name. We get our stock delivered a few times a week, and then it’s just a matter of putting everything away. The space is a bit tight, especially when the new crates arrive. We have to move things around to make room. It’s dusty work sometimes, but that’s just how it is with a general store. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just come in, get their soap or tea or whatever, and we chat for a bit. The fan in the corner makes a lot of noise, but it keeps us cool during the hot afternoons. We’ve had this spot for years. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit around us, but we stay the same. It’s a simple life, selling basic goods to our neighbors. We just hope to be here for many more years to come. Dealing with small change and heavy bags is our daily routine, and we don't mind the long hours much at all.
