Akshay Vegetables

Akshay Vegetables is situated on the 1st floor at 3rd Main in Kothrud. It might seem a bit unusual to find a vegetable place on the first floor, but we make it work. Every morning starts very early for us, way before the sun is up. We have to get the produce moved in and sorted before the day really begins. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying crates up and down, which keeps us in shape I suppose. The floors are often a bit wet from the washing and the greens. We deal with farmers and wholesalers and then try to get everything ready for the people who buy from us. Kothrud is a good area, but it gets very crowded during the rush hours. We don't have any flashy signs or anything like that. People just know where to find us. Sometimes the vegetables don't look perfect, because that's how nature is, and we sell them as they are. There are no special tricks used to make them look better. It’s us and the crates of food. Most of the time we stay busy trimming leaves or weighing things out on the scales. It is a simple business, really. We’ve been at this for a while and don't plan on changing much. We want to get through the daily stock and start fresh the next morning. It’s a lot of work but it's what we know and do every day.
