Working right near Anand Hospital means things are always moving at a fast pace around our shop. We are located at Shop No. 1 in the Dhankawadi area, and it is a spot where you see all kinds of people throughout the day. My routine is pretty simple, starting with the early morning when I unlock the shutters and check what stock came in overnight. It’s a small shop but we try to keep it organized so we can find things quickly when someone is waiting. Being so close to Anand Hospital means we see many people who are stressed or in a rush because of their family members. We just try to get them what they need without adding to their worries. The street outside gets quite crowded by the afternoon, especially with all the rickshaws and cars trying to find a place to park. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we just keep working with the backup lights until it returns. There is a small tea stall a few doors down where we get our morning chai, and that is usually the only quiet time we get. I have spent years in this shop and I know every shelf by heart. It is not a fancy corporate place, just a local business in Dhankawadi. We have some regular people from the neighborhood who stop by just to say hello or ask for help with basic things. It feels okay to be part of the community here.
