We are located in the Telco Area, which is a very busy part of the city dominated by the big factories and industrial units. It’s a working-class neighborhood where people are always on the move. Our setup for Aastha Ice-Cream is quite basic, just a sturdy building that can handle the heat and the dust of the industrial zone. The air around here is often thick with the smell of metal and machinery from the nearby plants, but inside our unit, we keep things as clean as possible. It’s a hot place to work, especially when you are near the compressors, but we have some big fans that help a bit. Most of our day is spent loading up the small three-wheeler cycles that take the ice cream out to the local markets. We don't have a showroom or a place for people to sit down, it’s strictly a production and storage point. The roads in the Telco area are often full of heavy trucks, so we have to be careful when we are moving our stock around. We’ve been here long enough that we know the rhythms of the shifts at the nearby factories. When the sirens go off for the end of a shift, we know the traffic is going to get bad on the main road. It’s a tough, honest way to make a living, just making sure people have something cold to eat after a long day in the heat of the factory floor.
