Aaroh Dance Music School

Our school is right in Baner Gaon. It’s an area that has changed a lot, but we are tucked away in a spot that feels a bit more traditional. If you walk past in the evening, you will definitely hear the music. Sometimes it is the sound of kids trying to find the right notes on a keyboard or the heavy thud of feet during a dance practice. We have a few different rooms where the classes happen. The floors are a bit worn down from all the dancing over the years. We didn't want a place that felt like a cold studio. We wanted it to feel like a place where you could actually make mistakes and learn. There are instruments leaning against the walls and posters of old performances pinned up. Parents usually wait outside or in the small hallway, chatting while their kids are inside. It gets quite loud when the drums start up. Baner Gaon is a lively place and we fit right in with the noise and the movement. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, one of us just steps out from a class to talk to whoever walks in. We spend our days tuning instruments and sweeping the dance floor. It’s a lot of manual work that people don't always see. It’s just how we run things here.
