We run Aapka Furniture, and most of our communication happens through the email address info.aapkafurniture@gmail.com. Even though we spend a lot of time looking at our phones or the computer for orders, the real work happens in the woodshop. It’s a place filled with the smell of sawed timber and wood glue. There is sawdust on just about every surface, no matter how much we clean. We spend our days cutting boards, sanding down rough edges, and putting together frames for chairs and tables. It’s a bit of a messy process, and by the end of the day, our hands are usually covered in stains or small nicks. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. Most people just find us online and send us a message to ask about what we can make. We try to respond to the emails in the evenings once the tools are put away and the shop is locked up. It’s a small operation, so it’s just a couple of us doing everything from the heavy lifting to the final polishing. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of wood and have to wait for a delivery, which slows things down. But mostly, we just keep busy with the orders that come into the inbox. It’s a simple way to make a living, working with our hands and making things that people will use in their homes.
