Our group is based at No.217, Manmathan Koil Street in Edachithur Village. It is a small community where everyone is pretty much involved in farming one way or another. At Sri Kolanjiyappar Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited, we focus on the collective side of things. This means a lot of meetings under the trees or at the office on Manmathan Koil Street. We are not interested in being a big name; we just want the local farmers to get a fair deal. The office is simple, just some chairs and a desk where we keep the records. Most of our time is spent out and about, looking at the fields and talking to the members. Life in the village is slow but steady. We deal with the same problems everyone else does—not enough rain or prices that are too low. But by working together, we make it a bit easier to handle. We do not have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just tell it like it is. If you come to Edachithur, you will see us working alongside everyone else. It is a collective effort in the truest sense. We are proud to be from this village and to help our neighbors keep their farms going through the good years and the bad ones.
