Nakeerar Coconut Collective Farm Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out of 409 Karamabakadu in the Jameen Kasimpudu Pettai area. This is in Alangudi, which is a quiet part of Pudukkottai. Nakeerar Coconut Collective Farm Producer Company Limited is really just a bunch of local farmers who decided to pool our resources together. We have our small office near the post office. It is not a shiny building, just a place to keep our records and meet up. Most days, we are out in the fields or checking on the coconut harvests. The sun is quite strong here in Tamil Nadu, so we usually start our work very early in the morning before it gets too hot to stand. We talk a lot about the crops and how the rain is doing. Being a collective means we have to deal with a lot of different opinions, but it is better than working all alone. We handle the collection and the transport of the coconuts ourselves. The roads around Karamabakadu can be quite dusty, especially during the dry season. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just us and our families trying to keep the coconut farming tradition going in this part of the district. We spend a lot of time just sitting and figuring out the logistics for the next month. It is honest work and keeps us busy all year round even when the prices fluctuate.
