Aranthai Collective Farm Producer Company Limited

Our office is at number 20 on the Kalappakadu Main Road in Aranthangi. It is a busy road, so there is always some noise from the buses and lorries passing by. Aranthai Collective Farm Producer Company Limited is run by a group of us from the local villages. We chose this spot in Pudukkottai because it is easy for the farmers to bring their produce here. The building is just a plain one, nothing special to look at from the outside. Inside, we have some desks and chairs where we handle the accounts and the farmer memberships. We spend a lot of time discussing the soil and which crops to plant for the next season. It is a collective, so everyone has a say in how things are done. We don't have any polished managers in suits. We are mostly in our regular clothes, dealing with the daily problems that come up with farming and logistics. Sometimes we have meetings that go on for hours because we want to make sure everyone is okay with the decisions. The main road location helps us get things out to the bigger markets quickly. It is a lot of hard work, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate. But we stay busy and keep the collective running as best as we can, day after day.
