St Marys Convent Inter College

Our school sits at 32 Thornhill Road. It’s a well-known address in the city. The building itself is quite large and old, with those big windows and wide corridors. You can feel the history of the place as you walk through the halls. Thornhill Road is a busy place, so there’s a constant sound of traffic coming through the gates. During the day, the school is filled with the noise of hundreds of students. We have a lot of classrooms, and they are all quite basic. No fancy decorations, just the stuff needed for learning. The teachers have their own small room where they keep their bags and have their tea during the break. We still use the old-fashioned registers for attendance. It’s a very traditional environment. Parents often come by the office to pay fees or talk about their children’s progress. We sit on old chairs and go through the notebooks together. It’s not a corporate style of management here at St Marys Convent Inter College. We just handle things as they come. Many generations of the same families have studied here. It’s a familiar part of the neighborhood for many people. We just keep the routine going, from the first bell in the morning to the last one in the afternoon. It’s just a steady, working school that’s been part of Thornhill Road for a long time.
