The school is situated in Civil Lines, which is a fairly well-known part of Allahabad. The pin code here is 211001. Unlike some of the more crowded parts of the city, the roads here are a bit wider and there are more trees lining the sides of the streets. You can see the old style of the city in the buildings around us. Our school isn't new; it has been part of this landscape for a while now. The building is a solid structure with a playground that gets quite dusty during the dry months. When the rains come, everything turns a bit muddy, but that’s just how it goes. The teachers usually sit in the staff room between classes, drinking tea and checking the students' notebooks. It’s a very routine kind of life here. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech gadgets, just blackboards, chalk, and books. The students come from all over the city, some taking the bus and others being dropped off by their parents. There is a specific rhythm to the day, starting with the first bell and ending when the sun is high in the sky. We handle the paperwork in a small office near the entrance where the files are stacked up on shelves. It’s a plain, functional place where we spend our days teaching and learning together.
