We are based out of Jaynti Prashad’s house over in Gulada, near Bisalpur. It’s a small place, so if you are coming from the main road, you might miss it if you aren’t looking closely at the gates. Machvakhera Kisan Utpadak Producer Company Limited isn't some big corporate thing. It is mostly just a few of us sitting around with ledgers and tea. The address is 262203, right in the heart of the village. Most mornings start early because that’s when everyone is out and about. Fancy desks or a receptionist are things we don't have. Usually, someone is just sitting on a plastic chair near the entrance. The dogs from down the street like to sleep in the shade of our wall when it gets too hot. Keeping track of everything for the farmers around here is quite a bit of work, but it’s what we do. Jaynti is usually busy with someone or other talking about the rains or the price of supplies. The walls could use a new coat of paint, to be honest, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. People know where to find us if they need anything. It’s just how things go in a place like this. A lot of time is spent on the phone or just walking down to the fields to see how things are looking. It's dusty and loud sometimes, but it feels right to be here doing this work for the community.
