We are located way out in Village Pachahi, which is near Madhepur in the Madhubani district of Bihar. It’s a quiet place, not like the big cities you see on TV. Most people here know each other by name. Our office is part of the local scene, right by the post office area. We help people get their bus tickets or figure out which train goes to Delhi or Patna. It’s a small room with a couple of chairs and a table. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we have to tell people to come back in an hour or two. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just walk in or call us. The dust from the road comes inside quite a bit, so we are always dusting off the desk with a rag. It’s a simple life here. We see the seasons change from the doorway. During the monsoons, the road gets muddy, and things slow down even more. We take care of the bookings and make sure everyone gets their paper tickets. There aren't many places around here to get this kind of help, so we stay fairly busy during the wedding season or when people are going back to work after the holidays. We just do our bit for the village and keep the ledger books straight. It's how we've always done it.
