Sanju Shringar is my little shop on Bhutnath Road, right near Hanuman Road in Patna. We are in the Kankarbagh area. It’s mostly a place where people come to get ready for local events. I’ve been here for a good amount of time. The shop isn't very large, so it can get a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. We sell some beauty products and also do basic makeup and hair. The street outside is always full of activity, especially with the temple nearby. People often stop in after visiting the temple. I have a small stool I sit on when there are no customers. My daughter helps me out during the festival seasons when things get really crazy. We have a lot of bangles and small jewelry items on display too. The glass on the front counter has a few scratches from years of use. I don’t mind it; it shows the shop has been busy. We don’t do any big advertising. Word of mouth works well enough around here. It’s a simple life in Patna. I know most of the shopkeepers on this road, and we often share tea in the mornings. It’s a practical business that keeps me busy and connected to my neighbors. Every evening I sweep the front before closing up the shutters.
