Reliance Life Insurance

I work out of our family place in Chakatullah village, which is under the Minapur Rai post office here in Hajipur. My father is Shambhunath Tiwary, or "Sirji" as many people around the village call him. We handle the Reliance Life Insurance stuff from here. It’s not a big glass office in a city. It’s just us in the Vaishali district of Bihar. Most people who come to see us are neighbors or people from nearby villages who know my father. They come by the house to talk about their policies or ask how to fill out a form. We sit on the porch or in the front room and go through the papers. It’s a lot of manual work, checking IDs and making sure the signatures are in the right place. Sometimes the mail takes a while to get out here to 844101, so we have to be patient. I spend a lot of time explaining the different plans to people who aren't sure what they need. It’s quiet out here compared to the town center, but we stay busy. People trust us because they know where we live and they’ve known our family for years. We aren't corporate types in suits. We’re just local people helping other locals figure out their insurance. It’s a slow process sometimes, but we make sure the work gets done properly for everyone in Chakatullah. That's the way we've always done it.
