The IRCTC office here in Patna is in a house that belonged to the late Ram Govind Singh. It is in New Punaichak, right on Boring Canal Road. It is a bit of an unusual spot for a railway office, being in a house and all. But it gives the place a very local and grounded feel. We handle all the railway-related work from here, like catering and tourism stuff. Boring Canal Road is always full of people and noise, but once you step inside, it is just us working at our desks. We have a lot of paperwork to get through every day. The office is not very modern. It has old cupboards full of files and computers that have seen better days. We do not have any slick marketing or polished slogans. We just get the bookings done and answer the questions people have about their trips. It gets pretty hot in the summer, so the fans are always on. We are a small group and we have been working in this house for quite a while. Most of the people who come in are locals from Patna who need help with their train plans. We do not make it complicated. We just do the work as it comes. It is a practical office for a busy city like this one.
