This is the Hotel Patliputra-Ashoka here in Patna. It’s an ITDC place, which means it’s been around for a long time. I am Noris Rahman and I work as a Commi 3 here. It’s a big hotel, but it doesn't feel like those new ones you see in the bigger cities. It has a lot of history and the building shows its age in some spots. We spend our days in the kitchen and the dining areas. It’s a lot of work keeping a place this size going. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just show up and do the work that needs to be done for the day. Some people stay here for work, and others are just passing through Patna. The rooms are large, much bigger than what you get in modern hotels. We try to keep everything clean and tidy. The garden outside is a bit wild, but it looks nice when the sun is out. We don't spend a lot of time on social media or advertising. People in Bihar know this hotel well. It’s a landmark in this part of town. Sometimes it gets really busy with events, and we all have to work extra hard. Other times it's very quiet and the halls are empty. We just keep the doors open and the kitchen running. It’s a steady, old-fashioned way of doing things, and that is just how it is. We are part of the ITDC family.
