Edify School is out in Dhawalpura, right along the Marchi- Mahuli Road near the Bypass and the local Thana. It’s a bit further out from the center of things, which gives us a little more space. The building is fairly large and has a lot of rooms for the different age groups. Being near the Bypass means we get a lot of wind coming across the open areas. It’s not a very old building, but it’s not super modern either. It’s just a functional space. We have a yard where the children can play, and it’s usually full of energy during the breaks. The road outside can get quite dusty, so we spend a lot of time sweeping the hallways. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. We have benches, whiteboards, and a few cupboards for supplies. The teachers come from the surrounding areas and they know the local families. We don’t use corporate jargon or talk about big visions. We just focus on getting through the chapters in the textbooks. Sometimes the water cooler breaks or we run out of chalk, and we just deal with it. It’s a regular school for regular people. We keep the schedule simple and try to make sure everyone follows the rules. It’s a practical environment for the kids to spend their time and get an education. We make sure the gates are closed tight once the first bell rings.
