Mount Zion Medical College

Mount Zion Medical College is tucked away in the Ezhamkulam area of Adoor, Kerala. Being in Kerala, the surroundings are very green, and it rains quite a lot during the monsoon season. The college and the hospital are together on the same site, so there is always a lot of movement. You have the doctors, the nurses, the students, and the patients all sharing the same space. It can get a bit hectic in the hospital wings, especially in the mornings when the clinics are open. The building is large and spread out, with various departments for different types of medical work. We spend our days dealing with everything from teaching anatomy to seeing people who have come in for a check-up. The air is often humid, and the halls can be a bit noisy with the sound of trolleys and people talking. It isn't a silent place by any means. Students spend a lot of time in the labs or sitting in the canteen area when they have a break. We have a lot of people coming in from Adoor and the surrounding villages for their healthcare. It’s a practical environment where the focus is on the work at hand. There aren't many frills here, just the white walls and the medical equipment. It is a big operation to manage, but it’s just the normal way of things for those of us working here in Ezhamkulam every day.
