Mar Athanansios College For Advanced Studies is situated in Thiruvalla, over in the Pathanamthitta district. It’s a beautiful part of Kerala, very green and usually quite rainy. The college itself has been part of the community for a good while. We handle various advanced courses here, and the atmosphere is generally relaxed compared to the big city schools. The building has that classic look with some older architecture mixed in. We spend a lot of time dealing with the humidity, so the maintenance is a never-ending job. You’ll see the staff walking around the grounds, making sure everything is where it should be. We have a lot of students who stay nearby or travel from other parts of Pathanamthitta. The classrooms are simple with big windows to let in the natural light, which is nice when the weather is clear. We don’t have any fancy marketing slogans or a team of people trying to make us look perfect. It’s just a place of learning where the teachers and students know each other quite well. Sometimes the rain gets so heavy you can barely hear yourself talk, but we just wait it out. It’s a steady, quiet life here in Thiruvalla. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks of running the college and making sure the students have what they need for their studies. It is a simple life we lead here among the hills.
