Sheti Bhati Agro Producer Company Limited is based in Dharangaon, over in the Parbhani district. We work out of Dattatrya Sontakke’s place in the Dharmapuri area. If you know the neighborhood, it's not hard to find us. We are just a bunch of farmers from around here who decided to join forces. In Parbhani, we grow a lot of cotton and soybeans, and the market can be very unpredictable. We formed this group so we wouldn't be at the mercy of the big traders all the time. Our office is just a regular room in the village where we sit down on the floor or on some old chairs to discuss the business. There’s usually some tea being served and a lot of talk about the last rainfall or the price of diesel. We aren't trying to be some high-tech agricultural firm. We are just the same people you see at the local market every week. We handle the paperwork as best as we can, even though it’s a bit of a headache for us. Our focus is strictly on making sure we get the right seeds and that our crops get to the market in good shape. It’s a lot of daily effort and we don't always get it right, but we are learning. We just want to keep our farming traditions alive while making things a little more stable.
