Dharmapuri Shetkari Producer Company Limited

We operate out of Gat No.155 in Dharmapuri, near Parli-V. Dharmapuri Shetkari Producer Company Limited started because a few of us here in the village were tired of getting the short end of the stick. We grow good crops, but selling them was always a headache. We figured that if we put our names together on some paperwork, we might be able to get a better handle on things. This spot at Gat No.155 is our main point for gathering. We don’t have fancy furniture or air conditioning. We just have a place to sit and talk about the rain, or the lack of it, and how the crops are looking this year. It’s a very local thing. We know everyone’s name and whose kids are helping out in the fields this summer. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just want to make sure the work we do in the dirt actually pays off. Every year is a gamble in this business, and we are just trying to stack the odds a little bit in our favor. We deal with the seeds and the fertilizer and try to find better ways to get our stuff to the markets. It’s honest work, and it’s mostly just us trying to look out for one another in a way that makes sense for our village.
