Kai. Panditrao Gite Shetkari Producer Company Limited

Our group is over in Samta Nagar in the Selu area of Parbhani. We use House Number 1 as our meeting spot. We named our group Kai. Panditrao Gite Shetkari Producer Company Limited. It’s a bit of a long name for a group of simple farmers, but it means something to us. Most of us have lived in Parbhani our whole lives. We know the land and we know the weather patterns here. We started this company because we wanted to have a bit more control over our own produce. Usually, the middleman takes everything, so we thought we’d try to do it ourselves. We don't have a fancy office or any business degrees. We just have our experience in the fields. We meet up to talk about which seeds are working well and how we can get the harvest to the market. It’s a lot of work and sometimes it feels like we aren't getting anywhere, but we keep trying. We don't have any marketing materials or a polished sales pitch. We just tell it like it is. It’s about the soil, the rain, and the hard work we put in every day. We are just a local bunch trying to make a living from our land. We don't have many employees, just ourselves and our families helping out when it is time to harvest the crops and get them loaded onto the trucks.
