Being right next to S.D. Girls Sr. Sec. School means we hear the school bell every single day. It kind of marks time for us here at Pacific Impex. We are at 347/6 and it’s a small place but we keep ourselves busy with all the shipping and the paperwork. There’s always some box that needs taping or a list that needs checking twice. We deal with a lot of different items, so the shelves are usually pretty full and dusty. It’s just me and a couple of others most of the time. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the news while we wait for deliveries to show up. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the narrow lane near the school and we have to go out and help them navigate. It’s a lot of work that people don't really see. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It is mostly just an office with desks and plenty of files tucked into corners. The neighborhood is quiet during the middle of the day when the kids are in class, then it gets loud when they leave. We’ve been at this address for a while and the neighbors know us by name. It’s a simple way to make a living, just moving goods from one place to another and making sure the numbers match up at the end of the month. We stay until it’s dark most nights finishing everything.
