Our place is right on Sumerpur Road, not far from the New Bus Stand. It is a dusty spot because of all the cement bags we move around every day. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks that pull up to the front. The buses go by all the time and you can hear the drivers honking. It is a loud and busy area. We have stacks of heavy cement bags inside the godown. They are difficult to move and it is hard work on the back. Some days are much busier than others when there is a lot of building going on nearby. We deal with many local contractors and people just trying to fix up their own small houses. The floor is always covered in a thin layer of grey powder no matter how much we sweep it. We have a small desk where we keep the books and take orders. It is not a fancy office at all. Just a practical space for selling building materials to whoever needs them. We have been at this location for some time now and know the neighbors pretty well. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the late afternoons. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when things get quiet for a minute. We do not do much advertising because people just see us when they go to the bus stand. It is a very straightforward business. We just try to keep enough stock ready.
