We’ve got the shop set up here on Naya Gaon Road, right in the Brahamvihar area. It’s mostly just stacks of cement bags and us trying to keep the dust down as much as possible, though that’s pretty much impossible in this line of work. Ashapura Cement Agency isn't a huge operation, just a few of us making sure the builders and homeowners get what they need for their walls or floors. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to drivers who are dropping off loads. The road out front gets pretty noisy during the day with all the trucks passing by. Sometimes we sit outside on stools when it’s quiet, just watching the traffic go toward Brahamvihar. We’ve been at this location for a good while now, so we know most of the regulars who come by for a bag or two. It’s hard work, lifting those heavy bags all day, and our clothes usually end up grey by the time we head home. We don’t have a fancy office or anything, just a desk with a lot of papers and a calculator that’s seen better days. If someone needs cement, they just pull up and we load them up. It's pretty straightforward. We try to keep things moving so nobody has to wait too long. It is just a normal daily routine for us.
