The workshop is tucked away in G-1 of Maruti Industrial Estate, just off Goddeo Road. If you know where Kasturi Towers is, we are right near there in Bhayander East. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We spend most of our days working on engineering projects, mostly bits of machinery and metal parts that need fixing or making from scratch. The ground floor location helps because moving heavy stuff in and out is much easier than being upstairs. The air in the estate always smells a bit like oil and burnt metal, which is something you just stop noticing after a week of working here. We start pretty early before the sun gets too high and makes the roof hot. There’s a lot of noise from the other units around us, but we just shout over it or use hand signals when we have to. It’s a practical setup we’ve got. We keep our tools organized on the back wall, though someone always manages to misplace a wrench by lunchtime. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a desk in the corner for paperwork and a place to sit for a break. People walk by the open shutter all day, and we usually know who is coming and going. It’s a straightforward way to make a living, just doing the engineering work that needs to be done. We're usually here until the evening light fades.
