Balark Engg. Pvt. Ltd.

We are up on the second floor of the Hornby Building, right at 172/174 Dr. D. N Road in the Fort area. It’s a very old part of Mumbai, so the building has that classic look with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors that creak. Balark Engg has been here for a good while. Getting up the stairs can be a bit of a workout if the lift is being slow, but it’s home for us. The office isn't anything modern with glass walls or fancy lights. It's mostly wooden desks, lots of paper files, and the constant sound of the ceiling fans overhead. We do engineering work, mostly focused on the technical side of the business. Outside, the street is always packed with people and traffic heading towards the station. Inside, it’s a bit quieter, but we stay busy with the phones. We have a small team, mostly people who have lived in the city all their lives and know the shortcuts. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside on the street, just the name on the door upstairs. Our days are filled with looking at drawings and talking to suppliers. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, or the internet acts up because of the old wiring, but we just carry on. It’s a practical way of working. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most of our work comes from people we've known for twenty years.
