Sattari Taluka Farmers Producer Companylimited is up in Valpoi, on Thane Road. We’re at House No-11. Sattari is the green part of Goa, full of trees and hills, and it’s a lot different from the beach areas everyone knows. It rains a lot here, and sometimes the roads get a bit messy with the mud, but that’s just part of living in the foothills. Our office is a simple house where we meet up to figure out the farming business for the local area. We deal with a lot of different farmers from around the taluka who are all trying to get their products to market. There is usually a lot of talk about the weather, as it dictates everything we do with the land. Inside, it’s mostly just chairs, a few desks, and piles of paperwork that seem to grow every single week. We aren't trying to be a big corporate entity; we’re just a bunch of people from the community working together. Sometimes the power goes out because a tree fell on a line somewhere, and we just light a candle and keep talking until it’s time to head home for the evening. It’s a quiet, hardworking environment where everyone knows each other’s names. We focus on the practical side of farming and trying to make sure everyone in the group gets a fair shake. It’s just a normal day’s work for us up here in Sattari.
