National Institute Of Oceanography

This part of the National Institute of Oceanography is over in Panaji, Goa. The address is a bit of a mouthful with the Vv Kulkarnipaiii Mcmrd part, but we are easy enough to find if you’re in the area. It’s a bit different from the main campus. We have our own way of doing things here. The office is full of books and old reports that we keep for reference. You’ll find people sitting around talking about marine life or water currents over a cup of tea. It’s a very local feel, not like those high-tech places in the big cities. We use the 403 004 pin code and most the mail comes through without a problem. The building has that typical Goan humidity, so the fans are always spinning. We don't really worry about fancy furniture or looking polished. It's more about the work we do with the ocean data. It gets a bit chaotic when we have a big project going on, but usually, it's just a steady pace of work. We’ve been part of the Panaji landscape for a long time. Neighbors know us as the ocean people. It’s a good spot to be, close enough to the water to remember why we’re doing this. Just a bunch of us working in a plain office, keeping things going every day.
