Swastik (India)

Swastik (India) is located at 1411 in Kucha Ustad Heera, which is a small lane off Bazar Guliyan in the Dariba Kalan area. If you’ve never been here, it can be a bit tricky to find because the alleys are so narrow and wind around quite a bit. It’s a very old part of Delhi, and there is a lot of noise and activity at all hours of the day. Our shop is quite small, but we cram a lot of stuff into it. We deal with various items that people in the neighborhood need, and we’ve been here for more years than I can count. The walls are thick and the ceilings are low, which keeps it a bit cooler in the summer but makes it feel a bit cramped when we have deliveries. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the people who walk past or the regulars who have known us for decades. Sometimes we sit outside on a small stool when business is slow, just watching the crowds go by. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything in such a small space, and the paperwork can get a bit overwhelming sometimes. We don’t use any complicated systems, just a pen and a ledger for the most part. It’s a traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. We just take it one day at a time and hope for the best with every season.
