Surya Sarees

We’ve been here at Surya Sarees in Nai Sarak for a long time now. If you know Chandni Chowk, you know how busy Gali Kishandutt gets. Our shop is at 1421, right in the middle of all the noise and the rickshaws. People come here looking for sarees mostly. It’s not a big fancy showroom with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a regular place where we keep piles of cloth and sarees on the shelves. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded, especially when families come in groups of five or six. We just pull out some stools and start showing what we have. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you aren’t used to the narrow lanes of Delhi-6, but people find us anyway. The building is old, and we spend most of our day folding and unfolding fabrics. We don’t really do much online stuff or big ads. It’s just us sitting here, talking to customers and making sure the stock is okay. Sometimes the tea guy comes by, and we take a break. It’s hard work being in this part of town because of the heat and the crowd, but it’s what we do. We don’t have any big speeches about what we do. We just sell sarees to people who need them for weddings or just for daily wear. That’s about it for our daily life here.
