You can find us at shop number 1914, right in the middle of the bazar near Hauz Qazi Chowk. It’s a tight squeeze in this part of Sirkiwalan, especially with all the crowds near the Hamdard Dawakhana. We’ve been at this location for a long time. It’s a family business, passed down through the years. M Kaley Khan & Sons is the name on the board, though most folks just know us by sight. The shop is filled with all sorts of items we’ve gathered over the decades. It’s not organized like a modern mall. You have to know where to look, or just ask one of us. We spend most of our day talking to people who walk in off the street. The area is always noisy, with rickshaws and vendors shouting, but we’re used to it. Sometimes the light in the back of the shop flickers, and we keep meaning to fix it. We sell what people need for their daily work. It’s a lot of manual handling and lifting boxes. My sons help out when they aren't busy with other things. We don't have a website or anything fancy. We just open the shutters early and close up when the sun goes down. It’s an old building, but it holds a lot of history for our family. Every day is different, depending on who stops by the chowk. We usually share a pot of tea in the afternoon while we wait for the evening rush at the shop.
