Working out of Block C at the New Subzi Mandi is definitely an experience. Our spot at number 95 is where Shiza Fresh India Private Limited gets things done every day. It’s a busy corner of the world. We deal with fresh produce mostly, which means our clocks are a bit different than most people’s. We are often up and moving while the rest of Delhi is still asleep. The market doesn't wait for anyone. It's a bit of a scramble sometimes, getting everything sorted and ready before the heat sets in. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It's just a few of us making sure the supplies are handled right. The office is small and tucked away, mostly filled with ledgers and the sound of people talking outside. It gets pretty humid in the summer, but we have a couple of old fans that keep the air moving enough to work. We’ve seen a lot of changes in the Mandi over the years, but the basic work stays the same. You pick up the stuff, you check the quality, and you send it on its way. There’s no secret formula to it. We just try to keep our heads down and do the job without making too much of a fuss. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall nearby and talk about the prices for the day. It is a simple life.
