T. P. Fruits

T. P. Fruits is located at B-147 on the second floor of the New Fruit Market in Azadpur. If you’ve ever been to the Azadpur market, you know it’s a total madhouse. There are trucks everywhere, people shouting, and the smell of fruit in the air. We are right in the thick of it. Our office is more of a place to sit down for a minute and handle the billing. Most of the time we are downstairs or out among the crates. We deal with whatever fruit is coming in that day, checking the quality and making sure things move along. It’s an early morning kind of life. We usually start while it’s still dark outside. It’s cold in the winter and incredibly hot in the summer, but we’re used to it by now. The team here is like a small family; we’ve worked together for ages. We don't use any fancy software to track things, just old-fashioned ledgers and a lot of memory. It’s a tough business because things can spoil if you aren't quick. We don't have time for corporate meetings or long lunches. We eat when we can and keep moving the stock. It’s loud and messy, but it’s the only way a fruit business at Azadpur really works. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs. We’ve been here for many years and know almost everyone in the market by name. It’s a community of its own and we like it.
