Sheiba Optical Industries

Our shop is at 280, Fatehpuri Chowk, right in the middle of Chandni Chowk. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how loud and crowded it gets. There are rickshaws, porters, and shoppers everywhere you look. At Sheiba Optical Industries, we spend our days working with lenses and frames. It’s a lot of fine work, sitting at a small table with tiny screwdrivers and polishing cloths. The light in our shop has to be very bright so we can see what we’re doing. It’s a contrast to the narrow, dark lanes outside. We’ve been here at Fatehpuri Chowk for a long time. You get used to the noise after a few years; it just becomes background hum. We see all kinds of people walking past our window every minute. We don’t have a fancy showroom with expensive lights and mirrors. It’s more of a workshop where things get repaired or assembled. There are boxes of frames stacked up to the ceiling and little envelopes with lenses waiting to be fitted for customers. We drink a lot of tea to stay focused throughout the day. The business is simple: people need to see better, and we help get their glasses ready for them. We don't make big promises, we just tell people when their order will be done and try to stick to it despite the daily chaos of the market.
