Sadanand Trading Co. is tucked away on the first floor at 743/1 in Nai Basti, Karta Neel. Being in Chandni Chowk means we are in one of the busiest spots you can imagine. To get to us, you have to navigate through some narrow lanes and climb a flight of stairs, but that is pretty standard for this part of Delhi. We have been trading from this location for a long time. Our space is filled with stacks of goods and a lot of ledgers. It is not a modern office by any means, but it works for what we do. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or talking to people who come up to the first floor to discuss business. The atmosphere is always a bit hectic with the sounds of the market coming in through the windows. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It is just a few of us making sure the orders are correct and the stock is moving. We know most of the other traders in Nai Basti, and there is a lot of history in these streets. Sometimes deliveries are a bit of a challenge because the lanes are so tight, but we have our ways of getting things moved. It is just honest trading, day in and day out.
