S Mohd Shaffi Peetal Wala

Our family business, S Mohd Shaffi Peetal Wala, is located at 4967 on the Sadar Bazar Main Road. We deal mostly in brass items, which is what Peetal Wala means. The shop is filled with the smell of metal and polish. We have all kinds of brass goods, from small decorative pieces to larger utensils and fittings. Everything is stacked on heavy wooden shelves that have been here for decades. Sadar Bazar Main Road is always packed with people, so the shop gets quite a bit of noise from the outside. We spend a lot of time cleaning the brass to keep it from tarnishing too much. It’s heavy work, moving these items around. The shop itself is quite old, with thick walls and a narrow entrance. We don't have a website or fancy brochures. We just show people what we have on the shelves. Sometimes we get big orders for weddings or festivals, and the whole place gets crowded with boxes. We have a small desk where we handle the cash and keep the ledgers. It's a traditional way of doing business, handed down through the years. We know the other metal workers on the street well. It’s a busy life, but we like being right on the main road where everything is happening. The light inside isn't great, but it’s enough to see the shine on the metal. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work every day.
