If you’re walking around Chandni Chowk, you can find Rajinder Saini Florist at Shop No.3. We are right near the Gauri Shanker Mandir, so it’s always a very busy spot. The shop is small and it’s usually packed with buckets of flowers. We start our day very early, way before most people are even awake, to get the fresh stock from the market. It’s a lot of work with our hands, cutting stems and making sure everything stays fresh. We aren't a high-end boutique or anything like that. We just sell flowers to people who need them for the temple or for a small ceremony at home. The floor is almost always wet and covered in leaves. That’s just part of being a florist. We don’t have a website or a marketing person. Most people just stop by because they see the roses or marigolds out front. We’ve been at this location for a long time and we know a lot of the people who walk past every day. It’s a simple way to make a living. Sometimes the weather is too hot and the flowers wilt, which is frustrating, but we do our best. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. We just take the flowers, tie them up, and hand them over. It’s a long day on our feet but we are used to it by now.
