R K Gupta & Sons

R K Gupta & Sons is located right in the middle of the busy Kinari Bazar in Chandni Chowk. Our shop at 1985/86 has been in the family for a long time. If you have ever walked through these narrow lanes, you know how crowded it gets with shoppers and carts. We sell all kinds of trimmings, borders, and items for weddings and festivals. The shop is small and every inch of wall space is covered with rolls of gota and colorful lace. We spend our days helping people find the right match for their outfits. Sometimes we have to climb up shaky ladders to reach the stock near the ceiling. It is a lot of work, but we are used to it by now. Chandni Chowk is never quiet, there is always someone shouting or a rickshaw bell ringing. My sons are here with me most days, helping customers and keeping the books. We don't do any big advertising or marketing; people find us by word of mouth or just by walking past. The building is quite old and the stairs are very narrow, so we have to be careful when moving stock around. We have seen many shops come and go in the bazar, but we just keep doing what we know. It is a family tradition and we plan to keep it that way.
