Our shop is located in Angoori Bagh, right in the Shankar Market area near Ajmeri Gate. If you know Delhi, you know how crowded and chaotic it gets around Fasil Road. We deal in steel, so there’s always a lot of heavy lifting and trucks trying to squeeze through the narrow lanes. Our unit is at number 108. It’s a small space, but we pack a lot of stock in there. The walls are a bit stained and the floor is scratched up from moving steel bars around all day. It’s a noisy part of town with all the horns honking and people shouting, but it’s where all the trade happens. I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. We have a few guys who help with the loading and unloading. It’s physically demanding work, and we’re usually covered in a bit of grease by the end of the shift. We don’t bother with fancy office chairs or air conditioning; we just have a couple of fans that struggle in the Delhi heat. People come to us because they know we’ve been in the market for a long time. We don't do much talking, just give the prices and get the material loaded up. It’s a straightforward business in a very busy part of the city. We just handle the steel and get it out the door as fast as we can.
