Mansha Sarees

If you go to Nai Sarak, you will find us inside the New Marwari Katra. Mansha Sarees is at No. 31 in Anil Market. It is a very old and crowded part of the city. The lanes are tiny and you have to squeeze past people. Our shop is not very big. It is packed from floor to ceiling with sarees. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning like the malls. It is a traditional shop where we sit and show the cloth. The smell of the market is a mix of spices and old fabric. We have been in Anil Market for many years. We know all the other shopkeepers in the Katra. It is a very tight community. We don't do any big advertising. People just know that we are here in Nai Sarak. We spend our days pulling down bundles of fabric and showing them to customers. It is hard work and our backs sometimes ache by the end of the day. We keep our records in big handwritten ledgers. We haven't really moved to computers for everything yet. It just feels better to do it the old way. The rickshaws outside make a lot of noise, but it’s just background sound to us now. We take a break for lunch when the market slows down a little. It’s a very honest way to earn a living in a very historic place.
