Krishan Lal General Store

My name is Krishan Lal and I have been running this general store at Kingsway Camp for quite some time now. You can find us right at Edward Lane 36. It is a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to get their milk or bread before work. The shop itself isn’t huge, but we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves for the neighbors. Sometimes the cardboard boxes are stacked a bit high in the corners and it gets a little cramped inside when more than three people walk in at once. Edward Lane has changed a lot over the years with new buildings, but the store stays mostly the same. I usually get here early to pull up the heavy iron shutters and sweep the front bit of the pavement. People stop by for small things, maybe a pack of matches or some tea leaves for the afternoon. We do not have fancy lights or big glowing signs. It is just the shop and the everyday stuff people need for their kitchens. I know most of the faces that come through the door, though some of the younger students are new to the area. The ceiling fan stays on all day because it gets quite hot in this part of Delhi. If you are looking for the place, just look for the pile of crates outside. It is just a regular shop where we do our work and go home.
