Karan General Store

Our store is situated in Jahangirpuri, specifically at Bholanath Nagar 14/12. It is a general store, so we carry a little bit of everything that a household might run out of. From soap to lentils and snacks for the kids, the shelves are pretty packed. It’s a bit of a squeeze to walk through the aisles when we get a delivery and the crates are sitting on the floor. I’ve been working here for years, and my hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the sacks of flour and sugar. We don’t have a fancy billing system, just a ledger and a calculator that has seen better days. The neighborhood is busy, and there’s always someone knocking on the shutter if we’re a few minutes late opening up in the morning. People in Bholanath Nagar know they can just come here for their daily needs. We don’t do any big advertising; the sign outside is even fading a little from the sun. It doesn't matter though, because everyone knows where 14/12 is. We spend our days weighing out portions and bagging things up for the local families. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. Sometimes the heat in the summer gets tough, but we have a cooler that helps. It’s just a normal shop in a normal street, and we like being part of this community.
