Jain Tea Company

Jain Tea Company sits at Shop No.339 in Naya Bans, right in the heart of Khari Baoli. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with the spice market and all the handcarts. We are right opposite Dau Dayal School. In the mornings, you can hear the kids shouting and the school bell ringing. Our shop is old and the wooden counters have been worn down over the years. We keep a lot of tea sacks stacked up against the back wall. It’s a narrow space, so we have to move things around just to let someone walk through. Khari Baoli is always loud with people shouting and trucks trying to squeeze through the lanes. We’ve seen many shops change hands around here, but we just keep doing our thing. The smell of spices from the neighbors mixes with our tea, which is just part of being in Naya Bans. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot is still written in thick ledgers. It’s dusty and sometimes the heat is a bit much, but that’s the reality of working in this part of Delhi. People come in and out all day, mostly locals who have been coming for years. We don't have a fancy display, just the tea and us. It’s a busy, cramped, and honest way to spend the day.
