Jai Prakash Jagdish Chand

Jai Prakash Jagdish Chand is the name of our shop, and we are located at Chandni Chowk Khari Baoli 4703. If you walk down this street, the first thing you notice is the heavy scent of spices in the air. It’s enough to make you sneeze if you aren't used to it. I’ve been around this smell my entire life. My family has been at this location for a very long time. The shop itself is old and the wooden counters are worn down from years of use. It’s a small, cramped space because we have so many sacks of goods stacked everywhere. 4703 is a busy address in a very busy part of Old Delhi. There is no such thing as a quiet day here. I spend my time weighing out products and talking to the laborers who bring the supplies. It’s a lot of physical work and my hands are always a bit dusty. I don't use a computer or anything modern. We still do things the way they’ve always been done. It’s not a polished or clean-looking business, but it’s honest. I’ve seen the market change, but Khari Baoli always keeps its character. I don't have a mission statement or any corporate talk. I just show up, open the heavy doors, and start the day. It’s a tough environment with all the noise and the crowd, but I wouldn't know what else to do.
