J. M. Overseas

Khari Baoli is a place that stays in your clothes. The smell of spices and dried goods is everywhere. J. M. Overseas is located at 280, Katra Peran, right in the heart of Tilak Bazar. It is an old building, and the stairs are a bit narrow and steep. We have been working out of this space for a long time. Our rooms are filled with sacks and crates that come in from all over. Sometimes the traffic in Tilak Bazar is so bad that the delivery carts can't even get to the door at 280. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or writing down orders in big ledger books. We don't have fancy computers everywhere, just the stuff we need to get the job done. Katra Peran is a busy little pocket of the market, and we know all the porters and the other traders by name. When the weather gets humid, the air in the warehouse feels heavy, but we just keep the fans going. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you are new to Khari Baoli, but once you see the sign for Katra Peran, you are almost there. We just focus on moving the goods out and keeping the inventory straight. It is a traditional way of doing business that hasn't changed much over the years.
