Iron Man (India)

Loha Mandi is where you will find us, specifically in Gali Number 1 at Shop Number one. It’s a very crowded area and the streets are quite narrow. If you are coming with a big vehicle, it can be a real struggle to get through the traffic. Our shop is small and packed with different kinds of iron and steel. We do a lot of scrap trading and also sell some new pieces for construction. My hands are usually covered in grease and dust by ten in the morning. That’s just the nature of the work here. We have a couple of guys who help with the loading, and they are stronger than they look. The scale is right at the front because everything is sold by weight. We spend a lot of time arguing over the price of scrap with people who bring stuff in. It’s all part of the daily grind in the Mandi. The noise is constant, with trucks idling and metal clanging everywhere. We don't have a big corporate office or a polished brand. We are just Iron Man (India), working out of a small shop in a busy alley. Lunch is usually something quick from the stall at the end of the lane. We’ve been in this same spot for about a decade now. It’s a hard way to make a living, but it’s steady. We stay open as long as there is work to be done, which is usually quite late every evening.
